STAPP Car Crash Conference
November 2-4, 2009
Savannah, Georgia USA
Website: http://www.stapp.org/
The Stapp Car Crash Conference® is the premier forum for presentation of research in impact biomechanics, human injury tolerance, and related fields that advance the knowledge of land-vehicle crash injury protection. The Conference provides an opportunity to participate in free discussion regarding the causes and mechanisms of injury, experimental methods and tools for use in impact biomechanics research, and the development of new concepts for reducing injuries and fatalities in automobile crashes.
for more information: PDF
In the past years, this conference has been a worldwide platform for CRS research and development, for child accident research, biomechanics, as well as for consumer information and safety testing. The yearly the participation of about 150 interdisciplinary experts from 25 countries made this conference one of the most important international meetings.
Again in 2009 all important key subjects of child safety will be addressed. The advances of developing a new UN ECE regulation for CRS will be discussed as well as the alignment of European Vehicle Safety Directives with ECE regulations. The activities in defining a side impact test procedure are covered; reports will analyse the process in child dummy development. Recent results from accident investigations and new research methods in biomechanical tolerance limits of children are another key subject of this conference. Experience in consumer information, international NCAP testing and misuse studies will be shared and a special session is dedicated to emerging markets and their requirements for protection of children in cars and for effective safety campaigns.

Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies (CChIPS) Workshop (Philadelphia, PA)
“Future of Side Impact Protection for Children: Injury Analysis, Testing and Technical Advances”
March 17, 2010
Philadelphia, PA, U.S.A
website
This half-day workshop is hosted by the National Science Foundation’s Industry/University Cooperative Research Center, the Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies (CChIPS) at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. As the only national platform for cooperative industry – university research on child injury prevention science and engineering, CChIPS is uniquely positioned to address critical issues facing the automotive industry regarding the future of the safe transport of children.
Participants in this workshop will hear first-hand from leaders in research, industry and government who will present current research, emerging technologies and other technical insights. Participants will be encouraged to share their findings, successes and questions formally during panel discussions and informally during networking opportunities.
By attending this workshop, participants will:
• Learn about cutting edge research on injuries sustained by children in side impact
motor vehicle crashes
• Learn about targets for future child safety advances based on research from
injuries sustained by child occupants in side impact motor vehicle crashes
• Learn about research efforts in the US, Canada, Japan, Australia and Europe along
with CChIPS on side impact-related studies.
• Understand the details of the multiple proposed side impact test protocols for
child restraint systems
• Experience and interact with a panel discussion of the proposed test protocols
• Catalyze a discussion regarding future directions in research, harmonizing test
procedures, and product development regarding side impact protection for
children in crashes
